After authorities searched a convenience store in Tennessee for illicit gaming, the owner was taken into custody on Friday.
Officers connected to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force charged Nimit Patel, 40, with paying game winners in products and then using a third party to exchange the winning tickets for cash.
Patel was charged with possession of a gambling device or record, aggravated gambling promotion, resisting or obstructing a legal writ or process, and gambling promotion. His case was given to local prosecutors after he was brought into the Crockett County jail.
According to authorities, officers confiscated two gaming machines, ledgers, payout slips, and $4,208 during the raid.
Tennessee TV station WBBJ identified the company as "The Country Store," also known as "E & T Gas," located in Gadsden, Tennessee.
Following a tip to the police about potential unlawful behavior occurring at the establishment, undercover investigators conducted an investigation and collected sufficient evidence to have a local judge issue a search warrant.
Vehicle Theft from the Casino Lot
On Friday afternoon, a Nissan Altima vehicle was taken from Wilmington's Delaware Park Casino.
According to a statement from Delaware State Police, state troopers detained 28-year-old Breana Brooks of Dover for auto theft.
Brooks allegedly stole the car keys from a woman’s jacket pocket inside the casino. The victim had left her jacket near a slot machine. The owner of the jacket wasn’t near the jacket when the keys were swiped.
Brooks then went into the parking lot and eventually matched the keys to the Nissan left in the parking lot, police said.
State troopers were able to identify Brooks as the suspect after reviewing casino security footage.
Brooks was spotted in the stolen car on Saturday before being arrested by Dover Police Department officers. She was booked at Delaware’s Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution with bail set at $2,000.
The reason Brooks reportedly took the car was not disclosed by the police.
