In honor of Responsible Gaming Education Month in September, BetMGM and its 50% stakeholder, MGM Resorts International, are once more collaborating with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to encourage responsible gambling.
In states where sports betting is permitted, the casino behemoth and the online sportsbook operator will expand GameSense's visibility at nine NFL stadiums. The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) created GameSense, which MGM first obtained a license for in 2017.
"The program focuses on positive, transparent, and proactive engagements with guests and customers about how to gamble responsibly. With this development, GameSense marketing will appear more often and in more prominent venue locations during each game,” according to a statement.
Among the first gambling companies to aggressively encourage responsible betting practices at NFL stadiums were BetMGM and MGM last year. The UK-based Entain Plc is in control of the other half of BetMGM.
The Practical BetMGM Responsible Betting Initiative
There are several reasons why BetMGM and MGM's intention to raise knowledge and exposure of GameSense at NFL stadiums makes sense. In addition to the 2024 season beginning on Thursday, it is anticipated that more bets will be placed on NFL games this year than in previous years.
T he NFL announced last week that it will be expanding its association with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), which includes a $6.4 million donation to the group. In an attempt to prevent betting scandals, the league also recently took action to make its betting policies more clear to players as well as league and team staff.
It is illegal for NFL players to bet on any NFL event, and they are not allowed to employ proxies to do so on their behalf. They are also not permitted to place any kind of wager at team facilities, while traveling to a road game, or while staying at a team hotel.
"MGM Resorts is announcing a $440,000 contribution to fund responsible gaming research through the International Center for Responsible Gaming and Kindbridge Research Institute" in honor of Responsible Gaming Education Month.
Numerous Locations to View Ads for Responsible Betting
Acrisure Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Empower Field at Mile High, Ford Field, GHEA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, M&T Bank Stadium, MetLife Stadium, Nissan Stadium, and State Farm Stadium will all have more responsible betting advertisements this year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants and New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, and Las Vegas Raiders all call those cities home. Except for the Chiefs' home field, all of the states where those stadiums are situated allow online sports betting.
“BetMGM will also add to its catalogue of advertisements in the coming months that highlight its comprehensive responsible gaming resources. The spots will feature brand ambassadors sharing engaging messaging, similar to its highly regarded responsible gaming commercial featuring NHL MVP Connor McDavid,” concluded the gaming company.
